Milanović, together with Science and Education Minister Vedran Mornar and Health Minister Siniša Varga, will visit San Francisco, New York and Seattle and meet with IT giants Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Hewlett-Packard to discuss potential investment and cooperation. The visit has been organised in part by the US Chamber of Commerce.
The eastern Croatian city of Osijek, through its Software City project, is Croatia’s answer to Sillicon Valley and its long-term plan is to make the city a desirable destination city in which IT professionals live and work, but also for hosts companies that produce good software. More than 7 new software companies have recently opened in Osijek, including one which has already found its way onto the radar of American investors. Fameron had received just over 1 million euro from American investors for its online agriculture farming management programme in the middle of 2012.
