Croatian Comedy Grosses Half a Million Dollars at Germany, Brazil and Austria Box Office

Svećenikova djeca (The Priest’s Children), a Croatian comedy film about a priest from a Dalmatian island who in order to increase the islands birth rate starts punching holes in condom packets, has been a huge hit overseas, grossing 290,000 USD in its first four weeks screening at cinemas across Germany…
After having the most successful opening in 22 years in Croatia when it first screened when 158,000 turned up on the opening weekend, the Vinko Brešan-directed film is enjoying overseas success. It is not just Germany where it is earning the dollars, in Austria the film has grossed more than 100,000 USD, while at the box office in Brazil the film grossed over 170,000 USD, Interfilm said.
Svećenikova djeca has been purchased to be shown in 29 countries around the word, a great achievement for a Croatian film. The film is written by Mate Matišić.
