Mate Rimac’s Concept One Makes Impressive Debut at Formula E Race in China

Rimac, who signed a lucrative partnership deal with FIA Formula E earlier this year, was in Beijing to celebrate the car’s first appearance at a championship race. Concept One will be used by FIA to carry out track inspections, passenger laps, and other duties during all Formula E championship races this season and it got off to an impressive start over the weekend.

The championship director Alejandro Agag,took the hot seat and took the car on a ‘hot lap’ around the circuit, drawing attention from fans who had turned up.

“We believe that Formula E wll be an incubator for thousands of innovations and technology which will contribute to adopting electric vehicle technology for many applications. Concept One showed today the technology capabilities of tomorrow. Our partnership with Formula E is a unique opportunity for us to push the boundaries even further,” Rimac said after the race.

Formula E is a class of auto racing, sanctioned by FIA and is intended to be the highest class of competition for one-make, single-seater, electrically-powered racing cars. The series was conceived in 2012, with the inaugural championship to be held in 2014/2015 in ten host cities – Beijing, Putrajaya, Punta del Este, Buenos Aires, Long Beach, Miami, Monte Carlo, Berlin and London.
