50% of Croatian Workers Earning Under €500 a Month

Despite the Central Bureau of Statistics data suggesting that the average take home monthly salary in Croatia stands at just 5,558 kuna (720 euros), the number of workers taking home under 460 euros a month is around 50%, writes daily Slobodna Dalmacija…
Vedrana Pribičević from the Zagreb School of Economics and Management recently produced a study on data highlight those on ‘marginal wages’, and the data shows that the official average wage, which is low as it is, does not paint a real picture of the situation. According to the report 50% of those employed in Croatia take home 3,700 kuna (445 euros) or less net a month.
Economics analyst Ljubo Jurčić says that the average wage of over 5,000 kuna (700 euros) a month is not a true measure, and in order to obtain a more realistic picture of the income of Croatian citizens one should the City of Zagreb from calculations because of the structure of the economy, the city towers above the rest of Croatia.
