First MAC Store to Open in Croatia

MAC Cosmetics, one of the most famous make-up brands in the world, is coming to Croatia. The first MAC store in the country will open its doors in Zagreb at the start of next year…

Orbico Beauty in the Croatian capital will open the first MAC store in the country, its owner Branko Roglić confirmed.

“The Americans have already had a look and approved the site for the Zagreb store, and now the design of the store is being done. Everything, even the smallest detail, comes from America so I am not sure if we will be able to open the store by the end of the year. I am convinced that with a single store in Zagreb it can operate profitably. The store in Belgrade exceeded our expectations in its first two months by 50%,” said Roglić to daily Jutarnji list, whose Orbico Beauty represents Estee Lauder, whose portfolio includes the 25 strong brands, MAC and Bobbi Brown cosmetics in Croatia.

MAC Cosmetics was founded in Toronto, Ontario, Canada by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo in 1984, with the first U.S MAC store opened in 1991, in New York. In 1996 Estée Lauder Companies acquired a controlling interest in MAC. Multiple Celebrities have endorsed the MAC products, such as: RuPaul, Lady Gaga, Cyndi Lauper, Elton John, Nicki Minaj, Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, Boy George, Ricky Martin, Dita Von Teese, and Mary J. Blige.

The Zagreb MAC store is likely to open in January in the centre of town, with prices a bit more expensive than in the US, but on a par with the European market. A store in Slovenia is likely to follow, Orbico Beauty says.
