Petrol Stations in Trouble after 10% Fuel Fails Quality Test

Operation ‘Octane’, which the Ministry of Economy carried out recently to check the quality of petrol at the pumps in Croatia, has revealed that motorists are occasionally getting a raw deal…
The results from the inspection of over 50 fuel samples from 24 gas stations in the country have shown that 10% of those samples were not up to the required quality standard which should be sold at the pumps. Four diesel samples and a Eurosuper 95 failed the test.
“Unfortunately we must confirm that the results show that 10% of tested samples from gas stations did not meet quality standards prescribed by Croatian and European law. We will continue to test the quality at pumps across the whole country,”said Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak.
Those responsible for the below par product face fines of up to 90,000 euros. The 50 samples tested came from the Osijek, Split, Zagreb and Varaždin areas. Whilst samples from the Rijeka area were 100% fine.
