The Appeals Committee of the International Criminal Tribunal in The Hague will hand down its final judgement in the case of convicted Croatian Generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac on 16 November, and the Croatian World Congress (HSK) are calling on all Croats around the world to join in on a movement titled Voice of Croatian Pride on 15 November at 18.11.
HSK invites all its members, Croatian Associations, Catholic missions and organisations, institutes, and societies around the world to gather on their respective town squares, churches, workplaces and sing the Croatian national anthem Lijepa nasa at 18.11pm on 15 November.
“We especially are calling on all Croatian radio stations through out Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and around the world that at 18.11 on 15 November to play the Croatian national anthem on their station,” said HSK, adding that they want to show the world and future generations that, whatever the verdict is, Croatian people are proud of the people who defended and liberated the country and that their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
In mid-April last year, The Hague court sentenced the two Croatian generals for war crimes, with Gotovina receiving 24 years, and Markac 18 years in prison. The pair’s defence team appealed the decision.
