Snow Brings Parts of Croatia to a Standstill

More than haf a metre of snow is expected over much of continental Croatia and even parts of the northern Adriatic coast on Friday, forcing the Croatian Auto Club (HAK) to close a number of roads. Parts of the A1, A6 and A7 motorways and the Adriatic highway have been shut for traffic. HAK warned people on Friday not to head off on the roads and to use public transport as snow was forecast to fall for most of the day. The Zadar-Premuda-Mali Lošinj, Brestova-Porozina, Valbiska-Lopar, Stinica-Mišnjak and Prizna-Žigljen ferries have also been suspended on Friday due to strong winds on the coast. The snow has also forced the postponement of the Rijeka v Hajduk Split first division match from Saturday until Sunday in Rijeka.
