Banks Make €320 Million Last Year in Croatia

Banks operating in Croatia returned a combined pre-tax profit of 2.5 billion kuna (328 million euros) last year, 148% more than the previous year, according to preliminary statistics from the Croatian National Bank (HNB)…
Out of the 28 banks trading in Croatia, 19 recorded pre-tax profits in 2014, whilst the remaining 9 recorded losses. The bank which recorded the greatest pre-tax profit in 2014 was Zagrebačka banka, whose pre-tax profits were 1.5 billion kuna (200 million euros), which was 901 million kuna (117 million euros) or 157% more than in 2013.
Hypo banka also saw a rise in pre-tax profits of 410 million kuna (53 million euros) to 7 million kuna (985 million euros) after 2013 saw losses of 402 million kuna (52 million euros) recorded. Societe Generale – Splitska banka saw pre-tax profits rise from 11 to 249 million kuna (31.5 million euros), reported Tportal.
Privredna banka Zagreb (PBZ) also saw pre-tax profits increase last year but the worst performing bank was Hrvatska poštanska banka (HPB) which recorded losses of 632 million kuna (82 million euros).
