Although it was initially reported that Croatia would not host the world’s fastest motor sport series – the Red Bull Air Race World Championship – after successfully hosting it for the first time in 2014, it will be back again this year…
More than 80,000 fans descended on the picturesque town of Rovinj on the northern Adriatic coast last April to watch the high adrenalin air spectacle, with both pilots and organisers praising organisers for a fantastic weekend. Rovinj has once again been awarded a race in this year’s calender after organisers cancelled the scheduled race in Sochi.
The Red Bull Air Race World Championship will be held in Rovinj on 30 and 31 May.
“It is with great pleasure to again host the Red Bull Air Race and fans across the country and outside the country will be able to experience on our coast the charm of this exciting sport,” said Tomislav Popović from Adris Group.
“This event is of exceptional importance not only for Istria but also for the whole of Croatia. This is one of the best examples how to create motives for attracting tourists to come in Croatia before and after the peak season,” said Minister Darko Lorencin after last year’s event.
