Croatia’s Tourism Minister Veljko Ostojic has said that Croatia can and must live better from tourism. Ostojic was speaking at the forum How will Croatia become (stay) a tourist star in the EU?.
Ostojic believes that increased competition is one of the key challenges for Croatian tourism and for the Ministry during its current mandate. Ostojic says that the impending reduction of the VAT rate for tourism, and also law changes governing tourism and hospitality businesses, will help the Ministry in its challenge.
Croatia can remain a tourist star Ostojic says, if it increases investment and creates a new tourist product, one that will motive tourists to come to Croatia all year round and not just in the summer. Ostojic also said during the forum, which gathered tourist experts, that Croatia had achieved 5 percent growth this year in the number of arrivals.
