Former Croatian tennis star Iva Majoli is facing eviction from her million dollar apartment on Zagreb’s main square…
The 37-year-old Former French Open winner is set to be left without her million dollar apartment after getting herself into huge debt. According to daily Jutarnji list, Hypo Alpe-Adria Bank in Zagreb are seeking Majoli to payback the amount of 1,242,312 Swiss Francs. Majoli has issued court proceedings against the bank and considers the eviction inadmissible, because it is the only property that she has for her and her family to live in. Media have reported that Majoli got into trouble after “living the high-life” and also for failed business ventures and a big loan she took out to open up a tennis centre in the heart of the Croatian capital.
Political party Živi zid, renowned for actively preventing evictions, says they are ready to help the former tennis champion.
“In 2013 we pointed out what awaits Iva Majoli however, her lawyer said then that she does not need our help and that this will be resolved by legal means,” Živi zid said on Facebook.
“As we see today in the media, those legal means have led to her being a step away from being evicted. If Majoli needs protection, we will gladly defend her,” Živi zid’s Ivan Pernar told RTL today.
