Cruise ships are no stranger to Croatia’s coast, with Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar and Šibenik popular stops…
A brand new destination however could become a popular stop after the northern Adriatic island of Krk saw its first ever cruise ship arrive on Monday.
Recently the Ministry of Transport assured a 6 million euro investment project on Krk, which saw Krk port expanded and upgraded, and on Monday the cruise ship ‘Europe’ become the first cruiser to ever visit the island.
The 330 passengers and 300 staff on board were welcomed to Krk with local cakes and rakija on the town’s waterfront this morning. Europe has stopped off in Krk on its two-week voyage around the Mediterranean. The cruise began its journey in Istanbul and will end in Venice.
