With the economic crisis starting to hit more and more citizens in Croatia, a gold and silver pawn brokers in the town of Karlovac, just outside Zagreb, have chosen a bizarre location for their new shop.
Located just outside the main entrance to the Karlovac hospital, a mobile gold and silver pawn broker caravan has set up shop, reported daily newspaper Jutarnji list. The lack of subtlety in choice of location has upset many locals.
Pawn brokers are currently experiencing a boom in the country as more and more citizens look to turn their jewellery in cash to survive the current crisis. Croatia exported more than eight times more gold in 2011 than it did in 2010, with a total value of 33.6 million euros exported in 2011, compared with 4.5 million Euros in 2010.
