Croatian teen Borna Ćorić has caused an upset at the French Open in Paris on Thursday, beating the 18th seed Tommy Robredo in a 5-set thriller…
The 18-year-old, who is the youngest player in the Top 50, took out the match 7-5, 3-6, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4. Ćorić, who was down a break in the deciding 5th set, broke back and again broke the more experienced Spaniard in the last game of the match. A fantastic win and another scalp for the teenager, who has beaten both Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal recently.
Meanwhile, world number 10 Marin Čilić needed just 99 minutes to beat Italy’s Andrea Arnaboldi and advance through to the 3rd round at Roland Garros.
The Croatian number 1 was too good for the 187th ranked Italian, winning in straight sets 7-6, 6-1, 6-1. Čilić will now meet Argentinian Leonardo Mayer in the next round. (image / French Open)
