Croatia’s Exports Up Nearly 10%

Croatia exported nearly 10% more goods in the first quarter of this year…

According to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, exports from January to March 2015, amounted to 2.6 billion euros, up 9.7% from the same period last year. Imports amounted to 4.2 billion euros, which was growth of 7.2%, while the foreign trade deficit amounted to 1.7 billion euros (+3.13%).

The figures released on Monday show that Croatia has increased its exports particularly to EU countries. Exports to EU countries amounted to 1.74 billion euros, up 13.4% from the previous year. Whilst exports increased, imports from EU countries also grew. Between January and March 2015 Croatia imported 3.4 billion euros worth of goods from EU countries, growth of 10.8% from the same period last year.

Exports to other European countries, including Russia, fell by 31.7%, whilst imports from other European countries outside the EU dropped by 39.5%. Italy is still Croatia’s number one trading partner with Croatia exporting 339.7 million euros worth of goods in Q1.
