The Dalmatian town of Šibenik has won one of the world’s most prestigious PR awards – an IPRA Golden World Awards for Excellence…
Šibenik won the world PR award for their ‘walking meeting’ project, which also won awards in 2014. The ‘walking meeting’ project is a new approach local administration in Šibenik have taken to tackling residents daily problems. Mayor Željko Burić has led the project which sees him leave his office and walk around and visit the people to talk on location about urban issues facing the town’s residents.
“Šibenik is particularly proud of the ‘walking meeting’ project, which allowed us to talk ‘on the spot’ with our fellow citizens about the issues that concern them in their neighbourhoods. I can say that it has been most helpful in our work and that we have already solved many problems this way. That is what makes this project even more valuable, and I am glad world experts have confirmed this by awarding us with this award,” said Šibenik Mayor Željko Burić.
“This year the competition was fierce with an impressively high standard of entries. The judges were sometimes struggling to pick the winners”, said IPRA’s President Amybel Sánchez de Walther.
The prestigious Grand Prix award will be announced at the Golden World Award Gala Dinner in Johannesburg on September 28 as part of IPRA’s World Congress. With 60 years of experience, IPRA, recognised by the United Nations, is now present throughout the world wherever public relations are practiced.
