Tourism Minister Opens 4 Hotels in a Day on Island of Korčula

Croatia’s Minister of Tourism, Darko Lorencin, had a busy day visiting the southern Dalmatian island of Korčula yesterday. Lorencin officially opened four newly renovated hotels…

Lorencin first visited and opened the family hotel Korsal, which last year was awarded a 30,000 euro Ministry of Tourism grant under its Tourism economy competitiveness programme. Korsal, which opened in 2010, has gone from a 10 room – 20 bed hotel to now a 18 room – 36 bed hotel.

Next up for Lorencin was hotel Liburna, where he opened the impressive newly renovated hotel which has seen around 7 million euros in investment. He also opened hotels Bon Repos and Korkyra Gardens, who are owned by the same group, and which have all been spruced up to four-star standard.

Last night hotel Korčula, the first and oldest hotel on the island, was also officially opened after undergoing renovations recently.

“Along with these hotels (on Korčula), another 25 new and renovated hotels have opened on the Adriatic coast this year, the most in the last 10 years or more,” said Minister Lorencin.
