Croatia could get its first bridge that lights up and plays music as early as next summer…
The 210-metre Ždrelac Bridge, which connects the islands of Ugljan and Pašman, just south of Zadar on the Dalmatian coast, is set to get a new look – complete with lighting effects and music.
“It will be the first bridge in Croatia that, along with decorative lighting, will play music. It will play a nice melody, maybe a kind of piano melody,” head of the local council Marin Boško told Nova TV.
“The lighting on the lower part of the bridge will actually improve the navigation safety for boaties because the lower part will be lit up white,” he added.
Wanting something to make the islands recognisable, the local council came up with the idea of the lit up musical bridge. Visitors, and also boaties, will be able to hear the music from next summer the council expects.
Ždrelac Bridge, which carries the D110 state road connecting the two islands, was completed in 1972 and saw major reconstruction in 2009.
