[VIDEO] Croatian Music at International Ethno Festival in Norway for the First Time

Split singer-songwriter Tedi Spalato will present Croatian music at the International Ethno Arts Festival of North Norway in Harstad, and in doing so will become the first Croatian to take part in the 50-year old festival…

Spalato will perform this Saturday with a number of different artists from around the world at the Norwegian festival. Spalato, who has won numerous awards in Croatia and is noted for his soft Dalmatian chansons with intimate poetic texts, will perform the song that grabbed the organisers attention which led to his invitation to the festival.

“It is a great joy to be in the company of different musical cultures as well as to pass on part of Croatia’s culture. Of course, I will perform ‘Dalmatino povišću pritrujena’ from maestro Ljubo Stipišić, which will be a special honour, especially because the song bears the features of traditional Croatian music,” said Tedi.

‘Dalmatino povišću pritrujena’, which roughly translates to ‘Dalmatia, exhausted history’, won a number awards and was a big hit when Spalato’s version was released in Croatia.

The international festival in Norway was first held in 1965, presenting a rich diversity of cultural expression, both in the performing and visual arts over the last 50 years.
