In the first six months of this year there were 4.18 million tourist visitors to Croatia, 7% more than in the same period last year, Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin announced on Tuesday…
Overnight stays (16.8 million) were also up 5% on the same period last year, according to official statistics released today.
Foreign tourists made up 3,619,000 of the total number of tourists to visit in the first half of 2015, which is 7% more than last year, whilst local tourists grew by 10%.
All destinations saw increases in the first six months of the year, except the Šibenik-Knin County which saw a decline in overnights by 1.3%.
Istria had 1.2 million arrivals (up 6.6%). Dalmatia recorded 1.7 million arrivals (up 5.5%), whilst the Dubrovnik-Neretva County had 490,000 visitors (up 6.3%) and Zagreb City 428,000 arrivals (12% growth).
The Germans are still Croatia’s number one tourists (22% share), followed by the Austrians (10%), Slovenes (9.6%), Czechs (5%) and Italians (4.7%).
“The pre-season has been very successful. The good results are the result of our Croatia 365 programme and the fact that we are working to develop a product on all levels and on its promotion,” said Lorencin.
Croatia 365 is a programme launched with the aim of turning Croatia into an all year round tourist destination by developing attractions around the country that do not just revolve around beaches and the coast.
