The southern Dalmatian islands of Korčula and Lastovo are set to be more connected with news that sea plane operator European Coastal Airlines are to introduce services for the first time there this summer…
Flights from Split to the islands of Korčula and Lastovo are set to commence on 1 August after ECA signed a concession contract with the Port of Split, reports daily Slobodna Dalmacija. Pontoons on Korčula and Lastovo are expected to be complete by 24 July, with hopes that the necessary licences will come through in time for a 1 August start.
The Split – Korčula flight will take around 22 minutes, shaving hours off the current ferry connection. ECA, who launched in August last year with commercial flights from Split to Jelsa on the island of Hvar, are expected to announce further connections shortly also. ECA added flights to the northern Adriatic island of Rab from Zagreb and Split a couple of months after their launch and have introduced new connections this year to Novalja on the island of Pag.
