Thiem was too good for his opponent, winning 6:4, 6:1 in just 61 minutes. The previous shortest final was 62 minutes when Tommy Robredo beat Fabio Fognini in 2013.
The match was watched by a full house in Umag, including world number one Novak Djoković and Croatia President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović.
