Around a million more tourists than 2014 are expected to visit Croatia by the end of the year…
“Excellent results have been achieved in the first 8 months of the year, with growth of 8% in arrivals and 6.5% in overnight stays. The good results are continuing in September. It is expected that this year will generate a million more arrivals than last year,” Croatian Tourist Board Director Ratomir Ivičić said on Thursday.
A good pre and post season, thanks to the tourist board’s ‘Croatia 365’ campaign, which invests in projects to attract visitors all year round to the country, has helped this year’s bumper figures.
The results don’t mean the tourist board will be resting on its laurels. At the moment negotiations are ongoing with regards to new flight services to Croatia, and in London promotion of Croatia’s new slogan and brand is underway as preparations for the 2016 and 2017 season have already begun.
In 2014, from 1 January to 1 December, there were 12.9 million tourist arrivals in Croatia, 4.6% more than in 2013. There were also 73.17 million overnight stays last night, 2% more than the year previous.
