Learning Croatian: Phrase of the Week
- by croatiaweek
- in Entertainment
You know some basic Croatian, enough to get you by, but there is nothing that will impress more than knowing a local phrase or slang that you can slip into a conversation. Our ‘Word / Phrase of the Week’ will teach you a variety of words and phrases commonly used in Croatia, but not commonly found in language learning material.
Today’s Phrase:
Ni luk jeo, ni luk mirisao (knee look ye-o, knee look mirisa-o)
The phrase Ni luk jeo, ni luk mirisao basically means to deny ones involvement in something. To insist you have nothing to do with the situation. The literal translation is – I haven’t eaten the onion nor smelled it. (I haven’t been involved in this at all).
