Champion Croatian rower Valent Sinković has made sure the prestigious SilverSkiff trophy stays in the family…
The unique 11km SilverSkiff rowing race, which takes place annually around the river Po in Turin, Italy, is one of the highlights on the rowing calendar. Last year the title was won by Martin Sinković, and this weekend it was Valent Sinković who made sure the trophy would not leave the family.
Valent Sinković, in a time of 40:27.430, beat his brother Martin on the weekend by just one second (40:28.590), whilst third spot went to 5-time World Skiff Champion Mahe Drysdale from New Zealand who finished in a time of 40:31.930.
The prestigious 11-km solo race this year saw 456 competitors from 22 countries take part, making the Croats achievements remarkable.
“This really was above all expectations, It is an honour that the trophy stays with us, especially as this is not our discipline,” said Valent Sinković.
