Former Croatia national team coach Igor Štimac, who was sacked in 2013, has signed a deal to coach in Iran…

Štimac’s will take charge of current Iranian champions Sepahan FC, who are based in Isfahan. Sepahan play in Iran’s top-level league known as Persian Gulf Pro League and with 5 championships, they have won the most league titles among the Iranian clubs. They were the first non-Tehran based team to win the Iranian League title. Sepahan are the current champions of IPL in 2014–15 season. They are also the first and the only Iranian football club who won three consecutive titles in Iranian Football League history.
Štimac joins a growing list of Croatian coaches who have worked in Iran, a list which includes former Croatia national team coaches Miroslav Blažević and Zlatko Kranjčar. Štimac had a brief spell with Croatian side Zadar after he was replaced by Niko Kovač at the helm of the national team.
