European nations dominate when it comes to the TOP 10 beer drinking countries in the world…
Croatia is ranked 9th in the world for sinking the most beer per person, with the country’s annual total consumption 346 million litres, or 82 litres per person. The Czechs are in first place with 143 litres per person.
China consume the most beer, due to its large population, but only 4 litres per person.
Croatia’s warm climate in the summer, and the influx of tourists during that period, helps push up its statistics. Around 40% of all alcohol sales in Croatia is beer. Football tournaments such as the World Cup and Euro are excellent times for the breweries in Croatia and Croatia’s performance at them has a big effect on consumption levels.
During the 2006 World Cup in Germany, seven of the largest breweries in Croatia generated around 60 million euros in beer sales during the tournament alone.
