International Women’s Club Zagreb (IWCZ) is organising its 22nd Christmas Bazaar. The Bazaar will take place on Sunday 6th December, 2015 at Zagreb Fair, Pavilion 7, from 11am – 4pm. The opening ceremony will start at 11am. Everyone is welcome and the entrance is free.
All proceeds will be in aid of the Rehabilitation Centre Zajezda from Zagorje and Psychiatric hospital Lopača from Rijeka. Zajezda have asked us to purchase gym equipment. The new gym would help to provide the children and young adults with physical exercise which would contribute to their overall quality of life. Lopača requires various equipment to improve the quality of life of people with mental difficulties. We shall be purchasing smaller medical equipment, air conditioners, televisions, and additional items.
Not only is the Christmas Bazaar IWCZ’s trademark fundraising event but also it has become a popular pre-Christmas event on the Zagreb scene hugely visited by Zagrebers and internationals alike. In only a few hours more than 7000 visitors enjoy the offerings and the bustle of the Bazaar.
Visitors can “travel” around 46 countries represented by their Country Tables, to mention just a few: China, India, Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Georgia, Ireland, Israel, Sweden, Canada, UK and many more. The Country Tables will offer fresh and packaged food, wine, crafts and toys. Apart from tastes of the world visitors will be able to enjoy international sights and sounds through dance and song performances of various groups in original costumes.
IWCZ’s President, Mrs Johanna Parnis England states: “The overwhelming enthusiasm we receive from the international community to participate in the IWCZ’s annual Christmas Bazaar is greatly appreciated. It is a wonderful start to Advent in Zagreb and a place where visitors can experience the cultures and taste the cuisines of over 45 countries in one place. On my first visit to Zagreb 8 years ago my husband took me to the IWCZ Christmas Bazaar. I couldn’t believe that a group of voluntary ladies could organise such a professional event, all in aid of charity. This was the reason which encouraged me to join the IWCZ.“
IWCZ is a non-governmental, non profit organization for women of all nationalities who find themselves in Croatia. The Club has over 170 members from over 40 different countries. One of the Club’s key objectives is to raise funds for Croatian groups or institutions that benefit women and children.
