Tourism Still Rising in Croatia as Winter Sets in

There were 6% more tourists in Croatia this November compared to the same month last year, the Ministry of Tourism announced this week.

According to the statistics, there were 191,000 tourists on Croatia’s coast and in Zagreb last month, an increase of 6% from November last year. Overnight stays were also up 5.5% on last year to 472,000 last month.

Foreign tourists made up 309,000 out of the 472,000 overnight stays in November in Croatia, up 4%. Domestic tourists last month had risen 8.5% on the same period last year.

Zagreb was the most popular destination for overnight stays in November, recording 116,000, or 5.5% more than last November. There were 62,000 tourists in Zagreb in November.

The region of Kvarner was next with 35,000 tourists, followed by Istria with 26,000 registered tourists last month.

Germans, Austrians, Italian, Slovenes, Bosnian and Herzegovinians, Americans, Koreans, Serbians, Japanese and Brits were the most common tourists in November.

The increase in arrivals in November is evidence that the activities of the Tourism Ministry and the Croatian Tourism Board aimed at extending the tourist season are yielding results,” Minister of Tourism Darko Lorencin said, adding that more people are interested in non-coastal regions of the country now.
