New Years Eve in Croatia’s Main Centres

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to brave the cold and see in 2016 at events in the major cities around Croatia on Thursday night…

There will be a number of events to choose from for those looking to party in the main centres Zagreb, Rijeka, Split and Dubrovnik.

Once again Zagreb’s main Ban Jelačić square will be one of the most popular venues of the night in Croatia. Kicking off at 9pm, a number of musicians will be performing on the night, with Nina Badrić the main attraction. The traditional fireworks display will again go off at midnight on the main square.

On the new European square, situated a couple hundred metres away from the main square, Eddy Ramich, Mr Mendel and Saint-James will be playing. On Zrinjevac, just around the corner from the main square, the New Year will be bought in by a full entertainment programme at popular Ice Park which will stay open until 4am.

Other options in the capital worth checking out include Museum Katran, Tvornica kulture and Vintage Industrial Bar, where special New Year’s Eve parties have been organised.

Nina Badrić

Bands such as Moskva, Grad, Neno Belan and Fiumens, and Hladno Pivo will entertain the crowd in Croatia’s third largest city on Rijeka’s popular Korzo.

Split will again be one of the most crowded spots in Croatia with over 70,000 people expected to see the New Year in on the city’s famous riva. The concert ‘Split za cili svit’ will kick things off at 9pm with another spectacular fireworks display set for midnight.

Dubrovnik

Pop singer Toni Cetinski will be the star of the show in Dubrovnik for the open air concert there. Again over 5,000 tourists are expected to join locals in welcoming in 2016 in the stone-walled city.
