First Sisters’ Sports Games Held in Croatia

Croatia’s Sisters have swapped the church for the sports field in the first Croatian Sisters’ Sports Games which are being held on Tuesday and Wednesday in the capital Zagreb…
Organised by the Sister Adorers of the Blood of Christ in Zagreb, the sports competition for the nuns is being held in the capital on 29 and 30 December 2015.
48 Sisters from nine religious congregations in Croatia registered to compete in the inaugural games. The Sisters will battle it out in 6 sports disciplines, including table tennis, volleyball, handball and chess.
“Sisters also need to live healthy! It is important to be active and live in a healthy way and that is why these games were organised. There is a prejudice about the life Sisters lead from those who do not really understand, and it is up to us to move the barriers and to be more open to the public. What is most important is that we have fun together over these two days,” said one of the organisers Sister Tomislava Cavar to HRT.
