Just one week after the New York Times named the Croatian island of Korčula on its list of 52 Places to Go in 2016, now another of the world’s most visited sites is at it…
The Huffington Post have listed the island on its ’30 Things to Do in Europe Before you Die’ list.
Along with riding a bike in Amsterdam, sipping coffee with a view of the Eiffel Tower, celebrating midsummer in Sweden, the Huffington Post advises its millions of readers to “See in the half new year on Korčula Island, Croatia.”
Locals on the stunning island of Korčula have been celebrating ‘Half New Year’s Eve’ on 30 June since 2001, and the tradition is growing from strength to strength each year. A masquerade procession pageant parade, attracting hundreds of locals and tourists, takes place around the streets of the gorgeous old town before fireworks, live music and dancing takes over the ‘Plokata’ square till the wee small hours of 1 July as Korculans see in the ‘new half year’.
Some fantastic promotion of late for an island that is fully deserved of it. A truly stunning island.
