Croatia has just got itself a new hero, and his name is Marijan Filipovic. Up until Saturday Filipovic was the owner of the Finvest company, which produced internal fittings and furniture made of spruce, beech and oak. As of today Finvest is owned by its 400-odd employees after Filipovic gifted them the company in a unique gesture of kindness.
Filipovic, talking to Croatian Radiotelevision, said that he hoped others who were also more fortunate would follow his example and that there were a lot of people out there who were far wealthier than him.
His humanitarian gesture gives the 400- odd workers some form of security in such uncertain times. It is not the first time Filipovic has been in the media, in summer he removed his own son as CEO of the company after some troubles.
