At Croatia Week we love to spotlight small local manufactures and designers producing Croatian made products…
One of those companies is Diversis Media creative studio who specialise in graphic and product design, and the development and production of products. The company have won a number of awards, including a gold medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions – INOVA – for a pocket ashtray they designed and produced.
They have also created a series of ‘green’ products, including a brand of biodegradable bags for dog waste called Poo Poo bags which are distributed by all major Croatian and Slovenian pet stores.
The latest product is the Paul Faber brand of cutting boards. The boards are made from carefully selected pieces of beechwood from the Rijeka area, and their edges have been varnished with an ecological water-based lacquer.
“Stepping back in time, sometimes it is easier to look at the whole picture and determine the ultimate goal. We found our starting point by returning segments of the past to our everyday lives from a time when the production based on quality, durability, functionality and carefully selected materials created products used for decades, and when design exuded simplicity,” the company says.
Who is Paul Faber? A person, designer, brand, concept?
Paul Faber is the alter ego of a creative team, he is a modernist, a minimalist impressed by geometric patterns, textures and materials. At the same time Paul Faber represents a concept – a Small Manufacturer:
Small – lat . Paulus – Paulo, Paul
Manufacturer – lat . Faber
The project is guided by the idea that carefully designed products, created in small batches by a combination of modern technology and hand- finishing, make a significant difference in the quality and impression of each sample. It is this final touch that brings a strong dose of character conveying emotions as the main driver of the process of creation.
The cutting boards come in 4 colours – blue, green, purple, white. You can see their Facebook page here.
