A 15-year-old Croatian student has joined a small list of basketball players in the world who have scored more than 100 points in a match…
Lovre Paleka (15), playing for Zadar against Jazine in round 11 of the County Youth League on the weekend, has scored an amazing 103 points to set a new league record. Paleka broke the previous record which was set last season by Karlo Traživuk from KK ABC, who scored 92 points out of his team’s 111 points).
The 15-year-old 195cm student, who attends the Vladimir Nazor secondary school, was on fire in the match against Jazine, making shots from all over the court.
Paleka is not the only Croatian to score 100 points in a match. In 1985 Dražen Petrović scored 112 points for Cibona in a 1st division match. Others to go past the mark include Veljko Petranović, Marin Ferenčević, Matej Kuna and Zdenko Babić, who famously scored 144 points playing for KK Zadar in a game of the 1985–86 Korać Cup against APOEL B.C. of Cyprus, a record in FIBA-sanctioned competition.
According to Wikipedia, verified 100-point matches in high school in the United States has only occurred 24 times, 19 by male players and 5 by female players.
