Transit App Moovit Launches First City in Croatia Thanks to Help from Community Programme

Moovit Community Editor Helps to Bring Real-Time Transit Data to Zagreb, Croatia

(Zagreb, Croatia) – February 24, 2016 – Moovit, the leading local transit app worldwide, is now available in Zagreb, Croatia thanks to the involvement of Moovit’s Community programme. One Community editor – Sinisa Belosevic – volunteered his time and energy to map over 400 lines of Zagreb’s transit system in just two months, making it the first ever city to launch in Croatia.

Moovit is a free app that gives users more control and peace of mind when riding public transit.

Users can also help to keep the app up-to-date by submitting service alerts and reports about to-the-minute transit delays, service changes and other obstacles in order to help other riders have the most accurate picture of their journey.

“I used the Moovit app during a visit to Israel and it was wonderful,” said Sinisa Belosevic, Moovit Community editor. “When I got back to Croatia, out of curiosity, I tried it here and saw that it was not yet supported in the app. Half out of thank you for providing great service in Israel and half because of my pride in Croatia, I began adding routes in Zagreb.”

This month marks the two-year anniversary of Moovit’s Community programme, with a landmark 115 cities launched worldwide thanks to the contributions of Community editors. With an editor community of more than 30,000 people investing their time in keeping transit information up to date, Moovit is able to bring transit data to many regions and cities that other transit apps are unable to provide service for. Community editors use Moovit’s editor platform, which allows users to map entire transit systems. Over 121 million people worldwide, that otherwise wouldn’t be served, have access to necessary transit data and can enjoy smoother journeys on public transit thanks to Moovit’s editor Community. Moovit’s Community of editors have contributed to over 70% of cities launched in the app.

“Moovit saves a lot of time and makes things much easier,” Belosevic further explained. “A big plus is that you get a chance to get to know parts of the city you maybe haven’t visited yet.”
