Croatian Smart Bench Placed Outside EU Parliament in Strasbourg

A Croatian designed Wi-Fi bench that can charge mobile phones and also provide street lighting has been placed outside the European Parliament building in Strasbourg on Wednesday…

Young innovator Ivan Mrvoš is the man behind the Solarna e-klupa (e-bench), a bench for sitting, which at the same time can charge tablets and mobile phones, is an internet hotspot, has air sensors and also acts as street lighting at night. The bench has been placed in around a dozen cities in Croatia and abroad, including Hong Kong.

The bench which is in front of the European Parliament building in Strasbourg is a new design.

“The new version has double-layered panels that were developed in cooperation with Croatian companies and have a stronger battery system. Phones can be charged via cables or wireless. It’s enough to just place your phone on the bench and it immediately begins to charge,” Mrvos said.

The price of the bench ranges from 1,700 – 2,130 euros.
