Kristina Šalinović was the first Croatian to appear on the cover of the Italian edition of Vogue…
Šalinović, who was one of Croatia’s most successful models, has modelled collections at the biggest fashion week’s in the world for the likes of Armani, Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton, has became one of the world’s top 50 models. The 181 cm-Split-born brunette, who began her career at the age of 19, was at one stage ranked 29th on the list of most sought after world models by fashion experts. Kristina, who has stepped away from professional modeling, will be one of the judges as Elite Model Look 2016 comes to the Croatian cities of Zagreb, Split, Rijeka, Osijek, Zadar and Slavonski Brod for casting. We caught up with her.
You quickly become a star on the international modelling scene, but how were you discovered?
I was discovered on Croatian fashion week (Cro-a-Porter) by ex manager.
So who are same names you have worked for?
I did a lot of work in my 7 year career, and some of those who I worked for include: LV, Tom Ford, JPG, 13 Vogues, Armani, Y3, and many others!
What was the most interesting shoot you worked on?
For my first French Vogue with Davide Sims and Emanuele Alt ”Funny Faces”story. There was a lot of jumping, smiling, after work we sung karaoke and drunk beer. So much fun!
Best advice you got as a model?
Be yourself!
Do you have a skin care routine?
Every night before I go to sleep, I feed my skin with organic face cream and I give it a short massage.
How do you stay in shape?
I don’t! Mother nature gave me the best DNA of my parents. (I swear, I never been in a gym in my whole life.) But I walk A LOT!
Do you have a style icon?
Not a person but a decade – whole 50’s style.
How do you relax?
With a book and a favorite music album.
Favourite place in Croatia to visit?
Biokovo, Makarska!

Do you have any advice for someone wanting to get into modelling?
The same advice I got: Be yourself! And stay true to yourself!
Now you have stepped away from professional modelling, what are your future plans?
Grow my own business – T Tattoo shop – Nero Ink and my hair salon – FenBar.
