Where to Eat Great Seafood on the Croatian Coast?

Croatia has a reputation for having wonderful seafood. So where to go on the coast if you don’t want to be disappointed?
There are dozens and dozens of places on the coast where you will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious seafood. Here are some suggestions from the top to the bottom of the coast if you are looking to eat some great fish.
We start in the north in Pula and stop off in Rovinj, Zadar, Šibenik, Split, Brač, Hvar, Korčula, Mali Ston, and finally Dubrovnik in the deep south.
Konoba Batelina – Pula
Address: Cimulje 25, Banjole
A great place to enjoy fresh seafood in the town famous for its Roman amphitheatre. The fish at Konoba Batelina is fresh and extremely well cooked in a creative way. The brudet and seafood pasta are top-notch. and if you are looking for something different to start with then check out the conga eel pate and the shark liver.
Monte – Rovinj
Address: Ul. Montalbano 75
The first Michelin Star restaurant in Croatia is a must-visit if you are in the Rovinj area. The fish is excellent here, fresh and perfectly cooked. The five-course dégustation menu with wine pairing is highly recommended and the attention to detail is second to none. There is limited seating so make sure you book in advance.
Pet Bunara – Zadar
Address: Stratico 1 (next to ‘Pet bunara’ square)
Zadar is another destination packed with seafood restaurants. Pet Bunara is located in a great spot and is always busy in the summer. The restaurant has a lovely ambiance and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The tuna here is fantastic, as too is the octopus and chickpea salad and the cuttlefish stew.
Pelegrini – Šibenik

if you are looking for somewhere to dine for some fish in Šibenik you are in luck as there are many great places. One of those is Pelegrini which has this year been awarded a Michelin Star. With a superb location, friendly staff and importantly outstanding seafood, you won’t be disappointed here. The mussels are outstanding.
Konoba Nikola – Split

If you are in Split and looking for some good seafood then be sure to check out Konoba Nikola in Stobreč. It is about 20 minutes from the city but it is worth the trip. The setting is lovely and the food matches it. Standouts on the menu include the tuna carpaccio, salmon, seafood risotto and tuna fillet.
Konoba Luš – Brač
Address: Put Vishcica 55, Supetar, Brac
Located in Supetar on the island, Konoba Luš offers something not many restaurants offer, octopus cooked in a peka or under the bell.
Give that a try, or you also won’t be disappointed with the grilled tuna or grilled sea bass. The fish here is fresh.
Gariful – Hvar
Address: Riva, 21, Hvar
If you are the island of Hvar and want to eat decent seafood then Gariful will not disappoint. The restaurant is a bit posh so you need to make a bit of an effort with your dress code. All the seafood is very fresh and always well prepared. A bit pricey but very tasty and the service is great.
Aterina – Korčula

Another island with a number of great seafood options is Korčula. One of those is Aterina, which is tucked away in a quieter corner of the Old Town.
The prices here are reasonable and the wine card is decent. Try the octopus cooked in wine, prawn pasta, grilled swordfish and chili prawns.
Kapetanova Kuća – Mali Ston

Condé Nast Traveller named eating oysters in Mali Ston in 7th place on its ’50 Things to do in Europe before you die’ list. One of the most well-known restaurants in Croatia for trying oysters, Kapetanova Kuća is well located and serves fresh oysters from the bay. The fish pate appetizer is also worth trying.
Konoba Bonaca – Dubrovnik
Address: Sustjepanska Obala 23
In Dubrovnik, you are spoiled for the number of great places to dine at and enjoy great seafood. Konoba Bonaca is in a great spot with views of the sea and the mountains. The fish here is excellent, in particular, their fresh grilled squid, mussels and octopus salad. The fresh home baked bread is also delicious.
