After wearing the alternative all blue kit in their opening group matches at EURO 2016, Croatia will finally wear their famous red and white checks…
Croatia wore all blue against Turkey, Czech Republic and Spain due to strict UEFA rules. The red and white checkers, which have become famous all over the world and were judged the best looking kit before the tournament started, will finally make their debut against Portugal in the Round of 16 encounter at the Bollaert-Delelis stadium in Lens.
With all three of Croatia’s group opponents having red and white in their kits, UEFA made a decision before the tournament that Croatia would have to wear all blue to avoid clashes.
With a large number of teams still left in the tournament with red and white in their home and away kits, it looked as if Croatia could potentially go through not wearing their famous red and white checks, but with Portugal’s alternative kit being a shade of green, there will be no clashes with the red and white checks on Saturday.
UEFA started selling tickets for the match in a ‘first in, first served’ system online this afternoon. Bollaert-Delelis stadium capacity is 38,223.
