[PHOTOS] Exquisitely Renovated 15th Century Dalmatian Stone House

A team of experts and creatives from different parts of the globe have combined to preserve the charm of this 15th century property, whilst transforming it into a comfortable and modern place for a quiet holiday in complete harmony with its environment.

The 15th-century stone house, which is 200 m2 with a 2000 m2 section, was renovated by architect Antonio Zaninović and Rees Roberts and Partners design studio. The construction was undertaken by local firm Dubrovačkog Građevinskog Društva.

“The most difficult part of the renovation was keeping the exterior walls in the most original form with all their patina. Since we could not use modern waterproofing, because it would change the look of the old stone, we had to inject a mixture of protection directly into the wall, which was a very long and arduous process,” the architect explained, writes Jutarnji list.

Great care was taken when it came to selecting furniture for the renovated home and in some cases furniture was tailor-made, whilst some arrived from antique and furniture shops from around the world.
The pool, which has an amazing view out onto the Adriatic sea and surrounding islands, is lined with stone blocks from Diocletian’s Palace in Split.
