A new eatery dedicated to traditional Croatian food opened its doors in Zagreb last week.
The words “Welcome to the place where you can experience traditional flavours of Croatia,” greets customers on a large blackboard behind the counter at one of Zagreb’s latest eateries.
Heritage – Croatian Food opened it doors last week in Petrinjska street just off the main square, offering locals and visitors an array of traditional Croatian tastes.
“Heritage is a reflection of a persons past in the present, and our goal is to preserve at least one part for the future. Merging (Croatia’s) national culinary heritage with the globally popular streetfood concept, we want to contribute to the continuation and preserving of indigenous Croatian food products”, the eatery says.
At Heritage – Croatian Food visitors can sample different delicacies from Istria, Dalmatia, Slavonia, Lika and Zagorje, such as olive oil with truffles, olives stuffed with almonds, and handmade chocolates with lavanda or rogač, and also purchase products right there at the eatery which doubles up as a delicatessen shop.
The menu at Heritage – Croatian Food features a range of options from salads to marinated anchovies to sandwiches and is accompanied by a local Croatian wines, craft beers, rakija and natural juices.
