Dubrovnik Welcomes 1 Million Tourists for First Time

For the first time in history Dubrovnik has welcomed its one millionth tourist.
On Saturday 5 November the popular southern Dalmatian destination dubbed the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ welcomed its one millionth tourist for 2016. It was the first time in the city’s history that it has passed the milestone of one million visitors in a year.
From January to September 2016 Dubrovnik welcomed 972,000 tourists, 11% more than during the same period last year, according to statistics from the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.
By the end of October that number had grown to 996,035 tourists, with 3.6 million overnight stays created, and today that number passed the one million mark. The Tourist Board said that October had been a particularly good one with 17% more visitors to the city than in October 2015.
The most tourists this year in Dubrovnik arrived from the UK, Germany, France, USA, Spain, Croatia, Sweden, Finland, Australia and Italy.
