Ballon d’Or 2016 – Luka Modrić Named World’s 17th Best Footballer as Ronaldo Wins

Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has won the 2016 Ballon d’Or.
The award, now separated from FIFA and back with France Football magazine, is voted by 200 top journalists around the world.

Ronaldo’s fourth title puts him now one award behind rival Lionel Messi, who has five titles. Whilst no places were announced from from 5th to 2nd, the TOP 10 was:
6th – GARETH BALE
7th – RIYAD MAHREZ
8th – JAMIE VARDY
9th – PEPE / BUFFON
Ronaldo’s Real Madrid teammate and Croatian captain Luka Modrić made it into the TOP 20 finishing in tied 17th place with Toni Kroos and West Ham’s Dimitri Payet.
