Young Croatian basketball star Ivica Zubac (19) is fast making an impact in the NBA.
Zubac was selected by the Lakers in the second round of the 2016 NBA draft, and Lakers’ fans are starting to believe that it was yet another astute draft pick from the club famous for making them.
After not getting too much game time this season, Lakers’ head coach Luke Walton has unleashed the big Croatian centre over the last 3 games – giving him an average 25 minutes per game.
Zubac has re-paid the faith by averaging 15 points and 8.7 rebounds.
“Los Angeles Lakers seem to have a knack for finding talent late in the NBA Draft, and now it appears they have done it again. Ivica Zubac appears to be well on his way to joining Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson as players who were undervalued on draft day that the Lakers were able to get a hold of”, lakersnation.com writes.
Last night he turned in another impressive performance for the LA Lakers, scoring a career-high 17 points in his team’s 120-116 win over Denver.
Zubac came through the youth ranks at Croatian club Cibona Zagreb. He made the roster of Cibona senior team in the 2013-14 season.
“There is still plenty of work to do, but it looks like the Lakers have unearthed another diamond in the rough.”
