Green Traffic Lights Replaced with Hearts on Main Zagreb Road

Someone wanting to add a bit of love to one of the busiest roads in downtown Zagreb could feel the long arm of the law.
Much to motorists amusement, this week a number of green lights on traffic lights on ‘Zeleni val’, a main road in downtown Zagreb, displayed heart symbols.
The culprit, or culprits, had placed black tape on the green traffic light to reveal a heart-shape when the light turned green.
In a week which Valentine’s Day was marked, it may have been a romantic gesture – however the motive is not known.
Romantic or not defacing a traffic light is a crime. Back in 2012 a similar act was done in Zadar on Croatia’s Dalmatian coast, with the culprit then copping a 2,000 kuna (270 euros) fine, daily Jutarnji list reported.
The photo first appeared in the Facebook page Zakaj Volim Zagreb, with it gathering close to 2,000 likes. Most comments were positive, with the only the odd negative comment.
