Croatia Beats USA in World Water Polo Championship Opener

The Croatian water polo team have opened their World Championship campaign with a comfortable win over the USA in Budapest on Monday.
Croatia, who had just beaten the U.S in a four-match series in California, were expectedly too strong for their opponents and were never troubled in their 12:7 (3:1, 4:2, 3:1, 2:3) victory.
CROATIA: Bijač, Macan, Fatović 1, Lončar 4, Joković 1, Buljubašić, Vukičević 2, Bušlje, Sandro Sukno, Krapić, Šetka, Javier Garcia 4, Marcelić.
USA: Baron, Hooper 1, Carniglia, Obert 1, Hallock, Cupido 2, Dunstan, Marko Vavić 1, Bowen 2, Ramirez, Roelse, Irving, Holland.
The world’s top 16 teams are taking part in the FINA World Championships in Budapest with the final set to be played on 29 July.
Croatia is in Group D with USA, Japan, and Russia, whom they meet next up on Wednesday.
