RIT Celebrates 20 Years of American Educational Excellence in Croatia

It was 1997 when a prestigious US university, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), opened ACMT – its first global campus in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

At that time, the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports of the Republic of Croatia initiated the establishment of private higher education institutions and RIT was chosen as the best partner in these efforts.

With 19,000 students from more than 100 countries, RIT is the 10th largest private university in the United States of America with more than 120,000 alumni located around the world. Founded far back in 1829, today RIT has campuses in Dubai (UAE), Croatia, Kosovo and China and its reputation as one of the world’s top universities has been acknowledged by many leading college guides, industry, and internationally respected publications.

Fast forward 20 years later and ACMT, now RIT Croatia, continues to deliver top American degree programs at its two campuses – in Dubrovnik and Zagreb. This is the only US college in the country and it is the only institution for higher education granting two diplomas to its students –an American diploma, awarded by RIT and a Croatian diploma, awarded by RIT Croatia. RIT is known for providing high-quality American education, career-oriented education and an opportunity to study at a truly global university in a multicultural environment.

Over two decades of its existence, RIT Croatia has well prepared over 2,000 young people for their (global) careers. Today, they work all over the world – from the EU countries to Australia and the US, but also exotic locations such as Curacao.

International students at RIT Croatia

International students come from all over the world but most of them come from the US. Some come from the main campus from Rochester, but a lot of Americans come from Croatian Diaspora communities in cities such as San Jose, San Pedro, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, New York, Toronto, Mississauga, New York and many more.

With its natural and historical beauties, and a good work-life balance, Croatia really has a lot to offer. When you add high-quality American education to the equation, it is no wonder that young Croatian Americans come to RIT Croatia. Both campuses have a good support system to help the students settle in. With over 800 students RIT Croatia is not a big college and when you talk to students one thing comes up repeatedly – the feeling of connection, friendly approach and community.

Everyone knows each other by name and all faculty and staff are easily accessible. Lecturers at RIT Croatia are American and European professors with substantial professional experience. They motivate students to learn, research and progress. Working in small groups is an advantage as well as an opportunity to take an individual approach towards each student.

American Degree Programs at RIT Croatia

RIT Croatia offers RIT’s following programs:

BS in International Hospitality and Service Management (Dubrovnik)
MS in Service Leadership and Innovation (Zagreb)

Programs and curriculum are completely aligned with those being offered at the main campus in Rochester. The quality of our programs has been confirmed by many international accreditations, such as The Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the AACSB International, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Additionally, RIT Croatia has been accredited by the Agency for Science and Higher Education (Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sports).
