The Dalmatian city of Split is currently experiencing its busiest tourist season to date with tourism up close to 30% in the first 7 months of 2017.
According to data from eVisitor, a total of 156,439 tourists arrived in Split in July. That number is 20% more than in the same month in 2016.
Whilst arrivals were up 20%, overnight stays also increased by 19% compared with July last year as 517,059 were created.
In July the Brits were the most represented from the foreign tourists, followed by the Poles, Germans, French, and Americans.
“These stats confirm that Split is one of the leading tourist destinations in Croatia and that the connection of culture, nature, beauty, and manifestos which Split offers, has been recognized by tourists all over the world,” Alijana Vukušić, a director from the Split Tourist Board, said.
The last weekend of July saw 55,000 passengers alone pass through Split Airport. The 1,000,000th overnight stay was recorded this year in July, compared with the milestone being reached in August last year.
Tourism in Split is up 27% since the start of 2017.
